Metro Detroit auto supplier Bosch looks to provide relief to the car industry and consumers amid the global shortage of semiconductor chips. In the process, the company anticipates more jobs at its offices in Michigan, an executive told the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday.

Bosch, which makes auto parts such as brakes, steering controls and powertrains for the Detroit automakers and others, said it will invest nearly $300 million to extend semiconductor production in its facility in Reutlingen, Germany, starting in 2025.
